The main difference between Emerald and other growers is that we individually hand select the harvestable trees each fall. It takes us approximately three years to harvest each field and when we finish in the third year, there are still about 6% of the trees left that never make the grade. Selective tagging assures consistent quality. Many West Coast growers clear-cut a field in a single year thereby losing consistency and quality. Emerald trees are grown in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, one of the richest growing areas in the Northwest. To provide top-notch quality, we individually hand tag and hand shear each tree.
